Sculpted Rocker – Maloof Inspired
Made popular by iconic woodworker, Sam Maloof, the sculpted rocker has become a “Must Build” project on almost every woodworker’s bucket list!
In this 6 day class, students will be exposed to many advanced techniques, including bent lamination work, sculpted joinery, and the famous Maloof housed rabbet joint, which give strength to this piece. And, of course, anyone who has ever considered a sculpted rocker, knows they will be exposed to a myriad of shaping techniques!
Class chairs will be made from American Cherry, for its appearance, strength, and workability
Finishing techniques will be reviewed but not applied during the class. Upon completion of the course, students will have a chair that is dry fit, together, and ready for final shaping, sanding, glue up, and finishing work back at their own home shops. Or students can choose to have us complete their chair to our museum quality standards by taking advantage of our completion service.
This class is limited to only 6 students, so you’ll receive lots of instruction & personal attention !
